PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which trimming processing after photography by a photographer can be omitted by suppressing increase in circuit scale or photography time even when the output is raised locally by the dark current of a solid state image sensor. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises a solid state image sensor 103 having a light receiving area where pixels are arranged two-dimensionally, a timing generator 104 outputting the driving signal of the solid state image sensor, a thermometer 108 for monitoring the temperature in the vicinity of the light receiving area, a section 105a for determining a target area satisfying the reading conditions of a preset image signal in the light receiving area based on the monitor results from the thermometer, and a drive timing control section 105b for controlling the timing generator to output an image signal from the target area.
