PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink cartridge with which the opening and closing operation by an opening and closing valve can be performed stably, by securing a large stroke quantity of the opening and closing valve without enlarging the valve mechanism. SOLUTION: A valve member 1930 is pushed toward a valve seat member 660 by an ink extracting tube 1720 and a coil spring member 1940 is compressed, when the ink extracting tube 1720 is inserted into a valve mechanism insert portion 1960. The inclining angle of a cone, when the member is not being compressed, is set to be an inclining angle such that coils of first to fourth windings do not interfere with each other in the compressing direction. Thus, the coil spring member 1940 is compactly compressed, such that thickness in this direction becomes substantially equal to the diameter of the coil, when the ink extracting tube 1720 inserted into the valve mechanism insert portion 1960 fully pushes the valve member 1930 toward the valve seat member 660.
