PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device capable of performing different kinds of tracking control with the same configuration without enlarging the size of a whole optical detecting apparatus. SOLUTION: The optical pickup device includes: a radiation light source 105 for radiating light with two or more kinds of different wavelengths; a diffractive element 107; a condenser 103; a hologram element 108; the plurality of optical detecting apparatuses 206; and an operational means for calculating the outputs from the plurality of optical detecting apparatuses 206. The optical pickup device is compliant with a three-beam method, a phase difference method, a push-pull method, and a three-beam push-pull method. In the plurality of optical detecting apparatuses 206, at least eight optical detecting apparatuses (P1-P8) are provided and required for performing the three-beam method, the phase difference method, and the push-pull method. The operational means includes a switch 212 for performing switching between a terminal for obtaining a sub-signal in the three-beam push-pull method and a terminal for obtaining a tracking signal in the three-beam method.
