PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily keep an arrangement space for a thermostat in an engine cooling system in which a cooling water outlet communicating with a cylinder block and a water jacket provided in a cylinder head is arranged on the intake port side of the cylinder head and the thermostat changing over a route for cooling water delivered from the cooling water outlet according to a cooling water temperature is connected to the cooling water outlet. SOLUTION: The thermostat case 52 of the thermostat 48 is arranged lower than the extension line L of the coupling surface 55 of the cylinder block 15 with the cylinder head 16, and the thermostat case 52 and the cooling water outlet are connected to each other through a connecting pipe 52a.
