METHOD OF MANUFACTURING PLATE GLASS AND APPARATUS FOR THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly cope with making plate glass large- sized by properly flowing out molten glass from a discharge port of a supply nozzle used in a forming step of the plate glass to reduce the occurring probability of devitrification. SOLUTION: The apparatus for manufacturing the plate glass comprises a supply nozzle 5 having the discharge port 8 formed on the lower end to discharge the molten glass G and a forming roller 9 arranged direct below the supply nozzle 5 and for forming the molten glass supplied from the supply nozzle 5 plate like. The inside flow space of the supply nozzle 5 has a main body part 10 in which the size in the width direction is gradually prolonged ward the lower side. The main body part 10 is provided with a flat part 13 communicating with the discharge port 8 on the lower part except both end parts 10a in the width direction and the vertical directional size of the flat part 13 of the both end side is shorter than that of the center side in the width direction.
