PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument excellent in operability and capable of moving a slider smoothly. SOLUTION: The measuring instrument comprises the slider 3 supported movably in an axial direction to the main body frame 1, and a transferring mechanism 4 for moving the slider. The transfer mechanism 4 comprises: an external roller 41 rotatable to the main body frame 1; a progressive roller 42 rotatable while centering the axis parallel to the axis of external roller 41 provided in a progressive direction side of the slider 3 than the external roller 41 side between the external roller 41 and the slider 3; a reversely progressive roller 43 provided backward directional side; a roller holder 45 for supporting the transferring rollers movably around the circle centering the axis of the outer roller 41; a first leaf spring 44 for pressing and energizing the outer circumference of the transfer rollers to the slider 3 in a contact direction; and a power transfer means for transferring the rotation of the outer roller 41 to the transfer rollers by connecting outer roller 41 to the transfer rollers.
