PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary member which can be smoothly operated under a small load, and also can be complicatedly and accurately operated, and further to provide a drive converting device using the same rotary member, a cleaning device using the same drive converting device, and an ink jet type printer using the same cleaning device. SOLUTION: The cleaning device of the printer is provided with a wiper supporting member 61 for wiping and removing a recording head, a cylindrical cam 34, and a driving motor. The cylindrical cam 34 has an intermittent gear 51 on its upper side, and has a cam groove 52 formed on its outer periphery. A positioning member 62a connected to the wiper supporting member 61 is inserted into the cam groove 52. The intermittent gear 51 has teeth 51a to be engaged with a reversible fourth gear 41, to which the driving torque of the driving motor is transmitted, on nearly a half of its circumference, and has a projection 60 to be loosely fitted into the recessed portion of the cylindrical cam 34.
