In a mobile wireless communication system for transmitting/receiving spectrum-spread signals, there is provided a signal receiving apparatus wherein the circuit scale has been reduced so as to reduce the cost. The signal receiving apparatus comprises a filter factor updating part (104) that generates, based on an input signal (x), a filter factor (w); a modification despreading part (101) that subjects the input signal (x) to a despreading process; and a FIR filter (103) that receives both a despread output (z) from the modification despreading part and the filter factor (w) from the filter factor updating part (104) to multiply them, and outputs, as a signal data symbol output (S), a result from addition of the multiplication results. The modification despreading part (101) obtains the despread output by performing addition/subtraction of the input signal (x) and a spread code sequence (c).
