PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine for a vehicle in which an impact of the abrasion powder of a brush to electric component including a position detector can be suppressed.

SOLUTION: A labyrinth structure is employed between a coating member 15a covering the periphery of a slip ring 12 while touching a brush 13 to the slip ring 12, and a permanent magnet holder 17b provided in a rotating shaft penetrating section 1b oppositely to the coating member 15a in close proximity thereto so that the abrasion powder of the brush 13 does not scatter easily to the position detector 17 side from a gap formed between a through hole 15c and the extension 1a of a rotating shaft.
