PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device capable of surely displaying the measured current position, the searched route, or the like on a precise place on a street map even when the own vehicle is outside a road. SOLUTION: When detecting that the own vehicle breaks away from a traveling road during the travel on a specific traveling road, the navigation device acquires the current position of the own vehicle. It is confirmed whether the acquired current position is included in a range of a building at the breakaway destination on the road map data. When not included, the own vehicle position is adjusted in the polygon display indicating the building at the breakaway destination and a street map image. When the control part of the navigation device detects that the own vehicle returns to the traveling road from the building at the breakaway destination, a means for displaying the own vehicle position is switched from the display means for the position outside the traveling road according to the present invention to a conventional current position display means.
