PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate sliding friction on a rack by hydraulic driving and in simple constitution. SOLUTION: This power steering device is furnished with a rack guide 33 to support the rack 7, a rack cylinder part 32 to store the rack guide 33 in the contacting and separating direction against the rack 7, an in-housing communicating passage 13e to be communicated through to the rack cylinder part 32, an in-control valve return port 47 to pressurize fluid and atmospheric pressure opening ports 46, 48 opened to atmospheric pressure. A friction control valve part 40 works by fluid pressure in steering, makes the in-housing communicating passage 13e and the atmospheric pressure opening ports 46, 48 in a connected state when a handle is steered and makes the in-housing communicating passage 13e and the in-control valve return port 47 in a connected state when the handle is not steered.
