A round bale wrapping mechanism having a self-threading mechanism (40,140) for automatically replacing an active roll (52,150) of wrapping material with a storage roll (50,148) prior to the active roll (52,150) reaching the point of exhaustion of wrapping material. A method is also given for self-threading the sheet-like bale wrapping material from the storage roll (50,148) through the bale wrapping mechanism.
