METHOD FOR DECREASING BIOPROSTHETIC IMPLANT FAILURE

Thus, a method is provided for substantially decreasing the failure of a bioprosthetic implant in a human being. The method comprises providing a lip id lowering medication. Then, the human being is treated with the lipid lowerin g medication to substantially decrease the bioprosthetic implant failure and substantially lowering the need for bioprosthetic implant replacement. Preferably, the lipid lowering medication is a statin, and more preferably t he lipid lowering medication is a HMG CoA reductive inhibitor (3-hydroxy-3 methyl- glutamyl coenzyme A reductase inhibitor).
