FIELD: metallurgy, namely metal continuous casting processes and equipment. ^ SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of pouring melt into mold of metal continuous casting plant; soaking it till formation of skin and drawing ingot to secondary cooling zone; simultaneously agitating liquid core of ingot in mold zone by means of first source of electromagnetic field. After formation in lower part of ingot of bottom of liquid phase crater, electromagnetic agitation of liquid metal is performed at level of said crater bottom by means of second source of electromagnetic field while moving the last at speed matched with motion of bottom level of liquid phase crater during billet crystallization process. In second variant of invention agitation is performed by means of one movable source of electromagnetic field. At first agitation is performed in zone of mold. After formation of liquid phase crater bottom said movable source is moved to zone of crater bottom during process of billet crystallization. ^ EFFECT: possibility for equalizing temperature along cross section of billet, improved surface quality and structure of billet along length of billet and in its cross section. ^ 6 cl, 2 dwg |
