An apparatus and a method of driving a plasma display panel are provided to achieve good discharge during an address period by adjusting the waveform applied to a sustain electrode during a set-up period and a set-down period. A driving device of a plasma display panel for generating sustain discharge using a negative sustain pulse includes a sustain driving unit(34). The sustain driving unit supplies a first positive DC voltage to a sustain electrode during a set-up period, supplies one of a ground voltage, a second positive DC voltage lower than the first positive DC voltage, and a third negative DC voltage during a set-down period, and supplies one of a fourth positive DC voltage lower than the first positive DC voltage, the second positive DC voltage, and a fifth negative DC voltage during an address period. |
