The lighter has a main body (1) containing liquefied gas as a fuel, and a spring and a flint supported in a fastening seat of an attachment (2). A friction wheel unit has a friction wheel and two side wheels, where teeth are provided in the periphery of the side wheels, and the diameter of the side wheels is greater than that of the friction wheel. A protective cover (4) is mounted on an outer side of the attachment and includes extension sections (41) corresponding to the teeth of the wheel device. The sections have a projection in a position corresponding to the friction wheel.
