PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which can prevent reverse transfer while suppressing power consumption small, and uses OCB mode liquid crystal. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with a liquid crystal display panel 10 which has signal lines and scanning lines arranged in a matrix and uses the OCB mode liquid crystal, a gate driver 12 which supplies a gate signal to the scanning lines, a display signal generating means 31 of generating a display signal having data of black to be displayed in a black insertion period inserted between pieces of display data to be displayed in a display period, a black insertion discrimination signal output means 34 of outputting a black insertion discrimination signal specifying the position of data of black in the display signal when the generated display signal is transferred, and a source driver 11 which supplies a voltage to signal lines while making an output driving current used to supply a voltage corresponding to the data of black larger than an output driving current used to supply the voltage corresponding to the display data based upon the black insertion discrimination signal when a voltage corresponding to the transferred display signal is supplied to signal lines.
