PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a condenser lens driving apparatus capable of manually driving a condenser lens in the case of finely adjusting the condenser lens, and also, capable of automatically, quickly and largely shifting the condenser lens in the case of retreating the condenser lens with the operation of a stage, then, capable of shortening an observation time, and to provide a microscope. SOLUTION: Regarding the condenser lens driving apparatus 1 for linearly driving the condenser lens 5 so that the condenser lens 5 may come close or separate from the sample placing surface 3a of the stage 3, the condenser lens driving apparatus 1 includes: a manual driving part equipped with a shaft 10 fixed to an operation part provided to be rotated by an operator, and a conversion mechanism of converting the rotating action of the shaft 10 to the linear action of the condenser lens 5; and an electric driving part equipped with a motor and a rotating force transmission mechanism 15 of transmitting the rotating force of the motor to the shaft 10 so as to rotate the shaft 10 by the amount of a prescribed angle.
