A method, a system, an access terminal and an access network for transmittin g the forward traffic channel at a fixed rate, which include: when the access terminal determines that it needs receiving the forward traffic channel at a fixed rate from one or several designated specific forward carrier link, it transmits the identification information of specific forward carrier link to the access network, the access network transmits the forward traffic channel at a fixed rate according to the received identification information of specific forward carrier link. The access terminal in present invention can receive the forward traffic channel at a fixed data rate from a forward carrier link in a specified sector, and satisfies the demand that the access terminal needs receiving forward traffic channel at fixed data rate from one or several forward carrier link in the designated specific sector, thereby increases the flexibility of forward traffic channel transmission, perfects the technology of multicarrier EV - DO.
