<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of avoiding such a risk that a recording medium during conveying remains in a heating part and the medium is overheated even when the power supply from an external power source is shut off while the recording medium during conveying lies on a conveying path for conveying the recording medium in the image forming apparatus; and to provide a control method of the image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: Regarding the image forming apparatus where the power is supplied from the external power source and the recording medium on which the image is formed is conveyed along the conveying path and ejected, the image forming apparatus includes: an internal power source which supplies power in place of the external power source; a detecting means for detecting the presence or absence of the recording medium on the conveying path; and a power source switching means for switching the external power source to the internal power source and supplying the power from the internal power source based on the detection result of the presence of the recording medium on the conveying path by the detecting means when the power supply from the external power source is shut off. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
