<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of interruption or stop of recording when data requiring a real time property are recorded. <P>SOLUTION: This data recording device is provided with a recording medium check means 106 checking an available data area status in a plurality of removable recording mediums 101-103 to be used for recording data and outputting availability information showing an available status, a recording area determination means 107 determining a high-speed recordable area and a low-speed recording area in a plurality of recording mediums 101-103 based on availability information outputted by the recording medium checking means 106 and the recording condition 109 and deciding an area for recording data, and a recording means 105 recording data in the area decided by the recording area determination means 107.
