<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side airbag device capable of performing adequate impact suppression to an occupant seated in a rear seat in side collision. <P>SOLUTION: The side airbag device 16 is provided on a body side part side of a backrest part 12a of a rear seat 12, and has an airbag 17 deployed between an occupant P seated in the rear seat 12 of a vehicle and the body side part of the vehicle. The airbag 17 is formed to satisfy the inequalities Kw>Mw>Hw>Yw, where Hw, Mw, Hw and Yw denote the maximum values of the width in the right-to-left direction of portions K, M, H, Y corresponding to a shoulder, a chest, a belly and a waist of the occupant P, respectively, when the airbag in a fully deployed state is viewed from the front side of the vehicle.
