A method for the production of organopolysiloxanes involves (i) continuous reaction of chlorosilanes with 0.01-0.7 mol water and 0.2-1.7 mols alcohol per mol hydrolysable chlorine, using a water:alcohol mol ratio of 0.005-3.5, (ii) continuous addition (optionally) of water-insoluble organic solvent with a density of less than 0.9 kg/l plus 0.2-100 mols water per mol silicon component and (iii) completing the reaction and separating off the aqueous-alcoholic phase.
