The shaft has a torsion loaded shaft section having different density at cross section of material. End pieces extend torsion moment along the entire shaft length. The section has a shell (14) with an enclosed cross section, where the shell transfers the torsion. The section has a tube that is filled with metal foam (1), where the tube contacts the shell over 75 percentage length of the shaft section. The tube is connected with the shell in form or force fit manner. The section has a cylindrical outer contour, where the shell supports a profile at its interior. An independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a torque transferring shaft.
