<p>This invention provides a fuel battery comprising a cathode catalyst layer (2), an anode catalyst layer (3), a proton conductive film (6) disposed between the cathode catalyst layer (2) and the anode catalyst layer (3), a liquid fuel tank (9) for storing a liquid fuel (L), a fuel gasification layer (10) for supplying a gasification component in the liquid fuel (L) into the anode catalyst layer (3), a surface layer (15) having an air introduction port (14), and a moisturizing plate (13A) that is located between the surface layer (15) and the cathode catalyst layer (2) and suppresses the evaporation of the produced water in the cathode catalyst layer (2). The fuel battery is characterized in that the moisturizing plate (13A) comprises a laminate of at least two porous bodies (13a, 13b) different from each other in moisture permeability (moisture retention). According to the fuel battery having the above construction, as the cell reaction proceeds, water produced from the cathode catalyst layer can be properly released and a part of the water can be flown back to the anode catalyst layer side, whereby cell output characteristics can be improved.</p> |
