The method involves implementing an identification process of a medical instrument connected with an identification unit and a treatment e.g. sterilization, by an optical or electromagnetic sensor unit (3), in a contactless manner. Data determined by the identification process is compared with reference data of the instrument. An information unit is issued, when a difference exists between the determined data and the reference data. Treatment data are assigned to the individual data of the medical instrument. An independent claim is also included for a device for monitoring a medical instrument e.g. dental instrument. |
