PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector for a cable of which an elastic contact piece 33 of a contact 3 has a contact holding part 38 elastically contacting and holding a core wire W1 of a wire W inserted into a contact housing hole 12, with a simplified structure and a reduced size. SOLUTION: The elastic contact piece 33 has a turnup piece 34, a slanted piece 35, and a contact piece 36, and a contact holding part forming hole 37 is formed over the slanted piece 35 and the contact piece 36. An edge part of the contact holding part forming hole 37 at a wire insertion port 13 side is made to serve as a contact holding part 38. A height of a housing 1 is restrained by keeping the contact holding part 38 apart from an inner wall face of the housing 1 and increasing a pre-load of the elastic contact piece 33 to the core wire without damaging the inner wall face of the housing 1. Further, a structure for releasing connection is simplified by forming a jig insertion hole 16 for inserting a connection releasing jig 5 on an upper part of the contact housing hole 12 of the housing 1.
