PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide stable motion of an auto tensioner. SOLUTION: A rod member 15 is divided into a push rod 15a and an adjuster screw 15b to make torque not transmitted to the adjuster screw 15b even if torque is loaded on the push rod 15a from a chain guide 6. Also, rotation moment loaded on the push rod 15a from the chain guide 6 is made not loaded on the adjuster screw 15b by a slide member 18 provided on a rear end part of the push rod 15a and a guide member 19 provided on an opening part of the cylinder chamber 12. A passage 30 is formed in a nut member 13 of the adjust screw 15b to make lubricating oil in an outer space 29 flow into an inner space 28 at a time of forward motion of the adjust screw 15b.
