PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive apparatus control unit as a remote controller of an AV apparatus, which can be operated without the need for confirming positions and display characters of pushbuttons on each occasion. SOLUTION: The apparatus control unit includes: a transmission section (remote controller) with a light emitting diode for blinking at a prescribed constant period; and a reception section (controller). The reception section comprises: an imaging section for a spatial region including the light emitting diode of the transmission as an image; a coordinate acquisition section for consecutively acquiring coordinate information of positions at which the light emitting diode emits light from the image imaged by the imaging section; a moving direction acquisition section for calculating moving directions of the light emitting diode from the coordinate information acquired consecutively by the coordinate acquisition section and classifying the directions into prescribed moving directions; a control information conversion section for outputting a control signal wherein the prescribed moving directions classified by the moving direction acquisition section are cross-referenced with the AV apparatus; and a control signal output section for applying the control signal output by the control information conversion section to the AV apparatus.
