PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gripping device for supplying/discharging workpieces without stopping the rotation of an automatic lathe, which is highly durable and does not cause seizing during high-speed rotation. SOLUTION: The gripping device for opening/closing a plurality of clamp members by a driving source is equipped with a columnar shaft and a cylindrical outer ring on the clamp member. A plurality of holes are provided at positions to fit with the cylindrical outer ring on the columnar shaft. The gripping device thus constituted exhausts air from the plurality of holes and causes the cylindrical outer ring to grip the workpiece. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
