PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neon tube glowing device capable of improving the light emitting efficiency thereof in comparison with the sine wave lighting while perfectly preventing the unevenness of light emission of the neon tube such as generation of stripe pattern and moving stripes. SOLUTION: In a discharge lamp glowing device for lighting a neon tube 2, the current flowing in the neon tube 2 is rectified to the pulsating direct current waveform flowing in one way such as a half-wave rectified waveform, a full wave rectified waveform and the pulse waveform. A peak factor of the pulsating direct current waveform is desirably set at a value larger than 1 and smaller than 3. Width and peak value of the pulsating direct current waveform is variable for light modulation. A high frequency power source 1 to be used for a lighting device of the neon tube 2 is formed of a chopper circuit or an inverter circuit. |
