#CMT# #/CMT# The seal system consists of a stainless steel holder (24) with a T-section recess to receive a joint (26) of an intumescent material that is resistant to flames, hot gases and radiation. The holder is fitted detachably between two chambers (4) of a nuclear plant that need to be isolated from one another, e.g. in a transfer unit (6) with a partition (10) and a transfer mechanism (8). The joint can be made, for example, in three sections positioned along a cylindrical generating line of the partition corresponding to the outer surface of the transfer mechanism.
