A disc type motor for driving a washing machine is provided to reduce a size of the motor by comprising a dual-disc magnet. A washing machine includes an inner container to contain the laundry, an outer container(230) holding the inner container, and a driving shaft for driving rotation of the washing machine. A stator(8) having a stator coil(3) is coupled with a housing(8) formed at a lower portion of the outer container. An upper plate(4) and a lower plate(6) of a rotor are coupled with each other on the driving shaft in order to locate at an upper and a lower portion of the stator, respectively. The upper plate and the lower plate of the rotor are coupled with first and second magnets(5,7) with a disc type, respectively. The first and second magnets include different polarities. The housing is coupled with a lower portion of the outer container and coupled with the stator at a bottom of the housing by screwing.
