Vanilla planifolia extract (I) comprises a liposoluble fraction. Independent claims are included for: (1) the preparation of (I) comprising performing an extraction from crushed Vanilla planifolia using a solvent and recovering liposoluble fraction and optionally molecular distillation of the liposoluble fraction to obtain an oily distillate; and (2) a cosmetic/dermatological composition, comprising (I) and a vehicle. ACTIVITY : Dermatological. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Growth factor synthesis activator; Basic fibroblast growth factor activator; Platelet-derived growth factor activator; Transforming growth factor beta activator; Vascular endothelial growth factor activator; Heparin-binding epidermal growth factor activator; Matrix metalloprotease activator. The ability of (I) to activate transforming growth factor beta was tested by ELISA method. The results showed that the liposoluble fraction at 1 mu g/ml exhibited 100 % stimulation of the transforming growth factor beta .
