PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide bipolar electric surgical forceps having jaw members with electrode surfaces in which a plurality of channels are formed to enhance the tissue-seal integration.
SOLUTION: A jaw housing 1030 is made of an electrically and thermally insulating material such as temperature-resistant plastic, ceramics or cool polymer. Arrays 1032, 1042 and 1052 are displaced from one another in the longitudinal and lateral directions of a jaw surface 1025. As the flow of fluid is forced to be generated substantially around electrodes and substantially through slots between arrays 1032, 1042 and 1052 or flow-limited areas 1031a-1031f by the electrode arrays, further obstructing and more reliable sealing is generated during the electrode operation. The electrodes 1021 are arrayed on the tissue-engaged surfaces inside the arrays 1032, 1042 and 1052 so that the electric potential is carried from a power supply 350 to the tissue via a single or a plurality of leads 1060 in the electric operation.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
