PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eddy current decelerator for eliminating a risk that a tip of a temperature sensor contacts a brake rotor even if the tip of the temperature sensor possibly approaches the brake rotor and accurately measuring a temperature of the brake rotor. SOLUTION: The eddy current decelerator is provided with the brake rotor 11 attached to a rotating shaft, and a stator 13 supported from the fixed side, adjacent to a radial interior of the brake rotor 11 and applying a brake force to the brake rotor 11. A groove 21 is provided on an outer circumference of the stator 13 facing an inner circumference of the brake rotor 11 in the axial direction of the brake rotor 11. A rod temperature sensor 22 is disposed within the groove 21, and inclined to the outer circumference of the stator 13 so as to make a tip 22a approach the center of the brake rotor 11 in the axial direction. The temperature sensor 22 is supported at two locations as a portion 22c within the groove 21 and a portion 22b separated from the portion 22c toward an exterior of the stator 13.
