PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus which can generate a color reproduction gamut, having high accuracy and smooth shape. SOLUTION: In an actual data pair acquiring section 1, an actual data pair is acquired from, for example, a color patch set. However, this alone is not sufficient to prepare an actual data pair, required for building a cellular Neugebauer model in, for example, so that a shadow portion or a region where the area ratio of paper white becomes such that W=0. Accordingly, in an actual data pair adding section 2, insufficient actual data pairs are predicted, based on the Neugebauer model. The actually acquired actual data pair acquired in this way, and the actual data pair predicted based on the Neugebauer model, are used to build the cellular Neugebauer model, and the cellular Neugebauer model is used to calculate color reproduction gamut information.
