<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device for color display capable of reducing the number of formed pixels to 1/3 of the conventional number of formed pixels using a color filter with the same resolution by using a liquid crystal panel without the color filter. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal panel without spatial color separation is prepared and a parallel board whose refractive index is varied by voltage is installed obliquely to liquid crystal on the front surface of the liquid crystal panel. The parallel plate is sandwiched by transparent electrodes and thickness and an angle to be inclined are set by difference in refractive index which the parallel board has and difference in degrees (electrooptic coefficients) of variation of the refractive index. Three primary colors of light are switched at the same pixel position by sequential scanning of colors for changing the refractive index of the parallel board by time sharing and three colors are displayed by one pixel in appearance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
