<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell in which a volume of diluted fuel in a mixing tank can be easily controlled from outside and a continuous operation can be carried out. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel cell device (1) is provided with a fuel cell (8) having a fuel electrode (14) and an air electrode (15), and a mixing tank (7) in which diluted fuel is produced by mixing fuel supplied from a fuel supply source (6) and an exhausted liquid material from the fuel cell (8). The fuel cell device (1), while supplying the fuel electrode (14) with the diluted fuel produced in the mixing tank (7), carries out a generating operation by supplying air to the air electrode (15).
