Disclosed is a novel ligand. Also disclosed is a novel transition metal complex produced by using the ligand, which shows excellent enantioselectivity and catalytic efficiency, particularly shows high catalytic activity, in various asymmetric synthesis reactions. The transition metal complex has, as a ligand, a compound represented by the formula: [Chemical formula] wherein R⁴ represents a hydrogen atom or a C_1-6 alkyl group which may have a substituent; and R⁵ and R⁶ independently represent a C_1-6 alkyl group which may have a substituent or, in the group represented by the formula below: R⁵ and R⁶ together form a group represented by the formula below: wherein the ring B represents a 3- to 8-membered ring which may have a substituent.
