An electronic zigzag sewing machine, comprises provision for input of data controlling the needle swing in a number of blocks. These blocks are tested and corrected separately and then replicated and combined into a complete stitch program. The blocks can be built up by modification of standard programs for various classes of stitches. An independent claim is also included for computing and memory components to collect block data and combine them into a needle stitch program.
