PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To distribute address book data managed for each user while maintaining security. SOLUTION: In a printer A, addresses 1, 2 whose access by a user X is permitted are registered as address book data, and addresses 3, 4 whose access by a user Y is permitted are registered. When the printer A distributes the address book data, it is determined whether a printer at a distribution destination has a function for managing the address book data for each user. Since the printer B has the function and both the users X, Y have been registered in the address book data, the address data related to the users X, Y can be distributed to the printer B entirely. Conversely, since a printer D does not have a function for managing the address book data for each user, the address book data cannot be distributed or the distribution is permitted only if an authorized operator performs distribution operation.
