PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation for skin, which contains a natural pigment and is excellent in temporal stability, especially photostability. SOLUTION: This external preparation for the skin is characterized by containing one or more natural pigments selected from the group consisting of Gardenia augusta Merrill-based pigments, carotenoid-based pigments, and chlorophyll-based pigments, a hydrophilic surfactant, and at least one of polyhydric alcohols having three or more hydroxyl groups in each molecule, in an amount of≥20 mass%, and water in an amount of substantially≤10 mass%.
