PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a good quality coating layer by stabilizing the formation of beads between a web and a slot die to suppress step irregularity.

SOLUTION: In the coating method, a coating liquid F is applied on a web W supported by a backup roller 11 and continuously travelling using a slot die 12. The web travelling directional land length L of an end lip 30a in the web travelling directional upstream side of the slot die is controlled to 20-100 μm and the angle (α) between an end lip front wall surface 30b and the slot 20 is controlled to ≤45°.
