PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool changer of a composite lathe provided with a tool rest equipped with a tool main spindle and a turret tool rest, which change a tool at high speed and surely prevent entering of chips and cutting oil into a machine room. SOLUTION: This changer is provided with: the tool main spindle 21 arranged in a machining chamber 51 for performing machining of a workpiece; a tool magazine 9 arranged in a machine room 53; and a tool changing arm 54 for changing the tool between the tool main spindle 21 and the tool magazine 9. The tool changing arm 54 is arranged in a tool changing chamber 52 formed between a machining chamber side shutter 57 and a machine room side shutter 59, and is provided with a shifter 55 for transferring the tool between the tool magazine 9 and the tool changing chamber 52 and making the tool stand by in the tool changing chamber 52. The machine room side shutter 59 opens at the time of transferring the tool by the shifter 55 and closes at the time of the stand-by of the tool. The machining chamber side shutter 57 opens while the machine room side shutter 59 closes. The tool changing arm 54 extends to the machining chamber 51 side to change the tool of the tool main spindle 21 when the machining chamber side shutter 57 opens. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
