PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating the volatile organic compound included in waste water from the waste water with high thermal efficiency and high separation rate, and an equipment for the same. SOLUTION: The inside of a hermetically closed separation vessel 1 is maintained under the reduced pressure lower than the atmospheric pressure by a vacuum generating means 12 connected thereto via a hermetically sealed heat exchange container 2 and the waste water to be treated including the volatile organic compound is brought into direct contact with the steam generated in the separation vessel within the heat exchange vessel and is then jetted and supplied into the separation vessel 1.
