An image heating apparatus comprising first and second belts (20,21) for forming a nip for heating a toner image (T) on a recording material (4); a first pressing pad (24) for pressing the first belt at the nip; a first roller (23), provided spaced from the first pressing pad with a gap therebetween, for pressing the first belt at the nip; a second pressing pad (27), provided opposed to the first pressing pad, for pressing the second belt at the nip; a second roller (26), provided opposed to the first roller and contacted to the second pressing pad (27), for pressing the second belt at the nip. In order to prevent a pressure dip along the belts between pad and roller, either the second roller has a friction coefficient which is smaller than that of the first roller (2), or else the first roller and second pad are elastic with reference to the rigid second roller and first pad. |
