A method for independently handling a button in a mobile application program mode of a mobile terminal is provided to perform operation desired by a user while the mobile application program is run so that a user can conveniently use the mobile terminal. A method for independently handling a button in a mobile application program mode of a mobile terminal comprises the following steps. An operation related to a button is designated when any one mobile application program of BREW(Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless), Java and WIPI(Wireless Internet Platform for Interoperability) application programs is run(S210). The button is pressed in the mobile terminal in which the mobile application program is run(S220). A type of the pressed button is determined(S240). The operation related to the pressed button is performed(S250).
