New polyester composition for new polyester staple fiber that provides fabri cs having a combination of excellent pilling performance, aesthetics and tactility ("hand"). Preferred fibers have non-round cross sections that are retained, especially such non-round cross sections having multi-grooved scalloped-oval cross sections that provide fabrics havi ng outstanding comfort qualities of moisture-management, dryness and comfort, along with minimal pilling.
