<p>#CMT# #/CMT# An apparatus for dispensing at least one product from a form-retaining container (2) filled with the product and having an outflow opening, comprises a frame (4) defining a space (5) for accommodating the container; and a unit (6) for supplying a displacing medium to the container. The displacing medium supply unit includes a manually operable or motor driven pump for compressing ambient air. The dispensing apparatus further includes a control unit (7) for controlling the outflow of product from the container. The outflow control unit includes a controllable closure member (16). #CMT#USE : #/CMT# For dispensing a product from a form-retaining container (claimed), such as ice cream. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The displacing medium supply unit including pump(s) for compressing ambient air allows the dispensing apparatus to be used anywhere, without the need for providing a special displacing medium. By using a manually operable pump, a low-cost dispensing apparatus that is easy to use can be obtained. The apparatus does not rely on any external power source for its operation. The symmetrical arrangement of the pumps in the frame results in a compact dispensing apparatus, and also results in an even distribution of loads over the various parts of the apparatus. The housing includes a storage space for receiving at least one spare container, thus the dispensing apparatus can be used as a stand-alone unit for a relatively long time.
